Jan 2012 I love your crazy hair nana

Nehemiah can hold a conversation like an adult better than some adults . He is three. He is kind and he listens and he truly wants to learn things so he asks really good questions.

He cracks me up because he is so thoughtful. When you ask him a question, if he doesn’t know the answer he will stop and pause and say. Hmmmmm….I don’t know. He loves to be read to as does Osias. Osias will clomp around on his little cast (two more weeks of the little green cast from jumping off the couch wrong) So Osias will grab a library book and he will plop down in front of me (whereever i am standing or sitting) and open the book and then pull at my pant leg or shirt to read to him.

He looks at the page and scans it from left to right and most recently started saying whoooooa, and wow or yeeeeees, when he sees a picture that stands out to him or something that gets him excited . I will read one book and they will want anoter read to them. I love it.  Nehemiah asks lots of questions about the books and sometimes the answers are scary or the books are inappropriate for a three year old. (in my opinion) Some authors are just kind of “dark” even authors of childrens books.

Nehemiah told me that “I just got a haircut nana” You did nehemiah ? “yes, I had to , my hair was getting crazy.”  : )   I asked him if he still liked his nana’s crazy hair. He said, “no you should brush it nana.”  : )  I never brush my hair and let it be curly and free. It is always clean but kind of wild.  When Nehemiah was just learning how to talk Adam would feed Nehemiah words as I was talking to him on the phone or waving goodbye. Nehemiah would always say. Bye Nana, I love you, I love your crazy hair.  Well time to brush it. I wonder what that is going to look like. Love you Nehemiah and Osito

Throwing a fit mama.

Nehemiah is getting more and more independent and becoming more and more aware of things. He seems to realize that he has an opinion and will express himself especially with his mom and dad. He started to cry about something a couple of weeks ago in the Larkspur house and his mom asked him to do something while he was crying. He replied, “no! ” I’m throwing a fit.”  We all had to hide our laughter as to not encourage him.  His next words were, “done throwing a fit mama.”   Precious little boy.

slippery soap nana

Nehemiah is getting potty trained and he absolutely loves to read. He reads when he has his morning and before bed sippy cup milk. He reads when he is tired and he likes to read on the potty. When he poops it takes extra long so I was reading to him. The book was titled 501 first spanish words. There was a picture of a “chico” washing his hands and Nehemiah , said , what’s that Nana? I told him , “that’s soap honey, it slipped out of the chicos hands.” So after the potty we washed his hands and he asked for the “slippery soap nana.” from the shower. (the Dial soap.) So I washed his hands and then squeezed it out of his hands and it flew up in the air. Nehemiah was so surprised and just squealed with laughter. Then I wet my hands and wet the soap again and said, “oops” and squeezed the soap out of my hands so hard that it spun and Nehemiah cracked up laughing. We did that for about 10 minutes and every time he went to the potty that weekend. He is so much fun. I’m happy that I can still surprise him sometimes. It’s getting tougher and tougher. He is so smart. I can still crack up Osias by just shaking my crazy hair in front of his face.  Last week I was leaving the new house and Nehemiah and Bear were at the door and Nehemiah said “bye Nana I love you and your crazy hair.” there was enough of a pause for me to realize that Bear coached him on the crazy hair part.

brought balloons home from work in a bouquet and Nehemiah and Osias went crazy with them in Larkspur. I separated one for osias  and tied it to a toy because he was just barely trying to walk 3 weeks ago and now he is walking all over. Nehemiah took the rest and he was running around the house and I said, “they are chasing you honey.”" and he just laughed and laughed as they got caught in between his legs and his feet. Osias had fun bopping the one balloon he had and trying to bite it . then letting the helium take it up in the air a little then he would pull it down. His little Linus blanket in one hand and the balloon in the other.  Arissa said not to bring any more toys over but I brought over Nehemiahs toy story ball from my house and the balloons and I explained that they weren’t truly toys and that the boys would tire out the balloons over the weekend and the ball wasn’t that big. She just sighed, because , after all I was there to help her with the boys so what’s the harm in being nice to me. She really is getting better about being more aware of her kindness level.

hmmmm…

Nehemiah is changing so fast. His vocabulary is amazing. The other day we were at the table and I asked him a question while we were all eating dinner.  It wasn’t anything complicated but before answering: he paused….tapped his fingers on the table…. and said “I don’t know.”   We all cracked up laughing. Nehemiah fake laughed so we laughed again then Osias mocked him and fake laughed. It was so funny.

through the eyes of osias

Left the forest for the last time last Saturday. It was bittersweet. I cant imagine how difficult it was for Nehemiah. He told his mama, you made me move, you made me move.  It may be because he is 2 or moving from his home or both. I know this is rocking his world. Arissa said she felt like throwing up when she left, (even though she is so excited about the new house.) I felt so sad, and just believing the boys are going to be so much happier in their new very own home that is all their own and sooo big and so near schrampa the fix it guy. Osias is so young 11 1/2 months  so he will be ok. He just is enjoying the new view. We were looking out the window and he was watching the trees dancing in the wind. He started to wave and smile at the trees and said “hi ya” and laughed. oh such a precious boy. To me the trees were dancing, to Osias they were waving at him.  Oh to see things ALWAYS through a childs eyes.
